October is officially the new August! The weather brought many challenges with regards to the set-up and planting of the 15 tunnels, sponsored by Raubex (Pty) Ltd. We are however thankful for the first little bit of spring rain that we enjoyed. It cleared the dust for a while. We have completed the set-up, planting and training. These tunnel beneficiaries are very excited for this opportunity of food security. They are looking forward to the mentorship and training period.
All the other tunnel beneficiaries on the previous projects have already planted their tunnels. We are experiencing that these vegetable farmers have taken responsibility for their tunnels. They place their orders for seedlings 6 weeks before the two planting seasons and contribute to the cost of it over a period of 6 – 12 months.
We are looking forward to a fruitful season with much rain as we trust that our prayers for rain will be answered. In the meanwhile these tunnel beneficiaries are being taught to recycle their household water to water their vegetable tunnels. The residents in Mangaung says thank you to Raubex (Pty) Ltd!! Their lives have been changed.
