Volume 10, Edition 2

October to December 2020
  compiled by

Looking back at 2020, it seems all a bit unreal and unbelievable. Yet, the consequences that came with a tiny virus were very real, effecting lives of people all across the globe.

We need each other – that is the fundamental truth that stands tall after a year like 2020.  We are not created to be isolated; we are supposed to reach out to one another.

2020 forced everyone to look differently at what we have in our hands to work with. Therefore, a new cover for the Message of Hope project was designed. The message has always been so relevant, today more than ever, people not only need to hear the truth, but is in desperate need of the blessed hope!

The project is about the distribution of a book called Jesus Christ is not a joke – He is your answer, your hope, your freedom and your life.   The book consists of 12 short chapters starting at “Getting back to basics and our fall to chaos “and ends with “A call to glory” in Chapter 12.  The book is now available on for less than 5 Dollars per copy.

Jesus Christ is not a joke was written by a South African author, Alet Slabbert, and was first launched in 2008. Alet passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in 2010.  She lived her life as usual, by faith till the very end, unknowing of a brain tumour, which was diagnosed only two days prior to her death.

For the past 12 years this book was printed and distributed by receiving donations.  At no cost, the book was handed out as gifts for people to read, whether it be prisoners, youth at youth camps, etc.  It is for this reason that we continue to accept voluntary donations, to enlarge the territory of this message.  The dream is to have the book translated into multiple languages and to perhaps have an audio version recorded in the future.

You are welcome to visit the website at for more information, also to purchase your copy of the book.

In our effort to reach out to other role-players in the community who also support the needs of the vulnerable amongst us, Spoudazo included Die Lighuis Heidedal in the township vegetable tunnel project by setting up a tunnel for them during November 2020.

Die Lighuis is a non-profit, Christian oriented organisation, established to address the welfare, humanitarian, educational as well as developmental issues of the previously disadvantaged community of Heidedal, Bloemfontein.

Heidedal is a township in Bloemfontein in the Free State province. The province has the highest unemployment rate as well as the highest percentage of unemployed women according to Stats SA. The community is plagued by drug trade, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy and a ‘suicidal streak’ with high unemployment and poverty levels.

A huge thank you to Raubex!  They are enabling us to better support the selfless devotion of the staff and volunteers at Die Lighuis in serving their immediate community as well.

On the 18th of March 2020 Beudene closed down for 6 months due to the Covid-19 virus.  When they opened their doors in September, the number of learners who came back to school gradually increased, but a number of parents decided to wait until 2021 to send their loved ones back to school.

However, on Friday 27 November 2020, Beudene held their annual year-end party for 80 learners with festivities such as jumping castles, an ice-cream van, cake, watermelon, braaivleis and the much-loved drum ability interaction with Jaco Spies!

Thank you to the sponsors of this year end party: Taupele Pty Ltd, Itau Milling, Drum ability, Irene Stores and the UFS fourth year students from the Department of Nursing.

We wish all our loyal sponsors, volunteers, parents, learners, staff and every role player all the best during the Festive Season.

May you be at peace and find renewed strength for 2021.
