As previously reported, The Vodacom change the world programme has made it possible for Cindy van Zyl to give up her daily job for a year to help make a difference in the lives of the learners with Autism at Beudene Daycare for disabled.
This initiative of Vodacom underscores the importance of partnerships between the private sector and NPOs in the pursuit of the common goal of building a better life for all.
Progress on Vodacom Change The World Project at Beudene Daycare for Disabled
October brought much excitement with the Vodacom Change the world programme at Beudene. Beudene had finally received the section walls to provide a designated area for the learners with Autism. Many useful resources were bought from Edunation and their Physiotherapist from GreyMil Rehab Centre provided them with a therapy bed for the learning corner! The first parent support meeting was held on 17 October for the parents of children diagnosed with Autism. The parents were thankful for the opportunity to network and communicate with each other about the joys and challenges of their children.
Dr. David Griesel, a well-known doctor specializing in the work and diagnostics of learners with Autism, also paid Beudene a visit and everyone was very excited that he approves and supports Beudene’s work with the Autistic learners. “I have been truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful environment that is designed to help the people with disabilities. Thank you Vodacom for making it possible for me to be here at Beudene Daycare for disabled!” says Cindy van Zyl, the educational therapist at Beudene.
